Bloom & Wild is Europe's leading online flower company and a certified B Corp, who target to halve its carbon footprint by 2030. Founded in 2013, the business operates across eight countries with around 300 staff across the UK, Netherlands, and France.

The challenge: When Sam Middleton joined as Director of IT, he inherited a cupboard full of old devices sitting across Bloom & Wild's London and Amsterdam offices, with no clear plan for what to do with them. The business had a small-scale internal trial to tackle the problem themselves, but it proved too time-intensive to run in-house.

Sending the devices to landfill was never really an option for a business whose stated values include Care Wildly. They needed a partner who could take the whole thing off their plate and make sure the devices ended up somewhere meaningful.

That's when they came to Klyk.

How Klyk helped

Device collection
Klyk collected all 302 devices directly from Bloom & Wild's London and two Amsterdam offices The team handled the full logistics, and providing regular updates throughout the process meant Bloom & Wild always knew exactly where their devices were and what stage they were at.

Certified data destruction
Every device was data-wiped to ISO 27001 standard, with certificates of destruction issued for each one. For a business retiring devices across multiple locations, the assurance that no data was leaving the building alongside the hardware was non-negotiable. Klyk handled it cleanly.

Refurbishment and donation
Of the 302 devices collected, 70 were refurbished to a high standard and donated to Blueprint for All — a charity that believes talent is everywhere but opportunity is not. Blueprint for All connected the devices with a school in Deptford, South East London, where over a third of young people lack continuous access to a laptop or equivalent resource for their education.

Getting devices to the people who needed them

Blueprint for All believe talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. The digital divide for young people is a real problem: Ofcom data from 2024 shows that over a third of young people in education don't have continuous access to a laptop or equivalent resource.

The 70 laptops Klyk refurbished and donated through Blueprint for All went to a school in Deptford, South East London. Each device was brought up to a standard that would last — not a token gesture, but kit that would genuinely serve students through their coursework and into the next stage of their careers. The difference a working device makes to a young person's life is hard to overstate.
